San Antonio Spurs
What site about San Antonio would be complete without the world champion San Antonio Spurs! The Spurs basketball team is the staple of San Antonio's entertainment atmosphere. Two phrases in San Antonio are descriptive of our hometown basketball team - Go Spurs Go! and We Love Our Spurs! The Spurs are a unique team and the players are what makes this NBA basketball team special to our city.
Our San Antonio Spurs
Aside from being a world championship NBA basketball team, the Spurs players are a group of men in our community that exemplify positive attitude, leadership, and stewardship. Current Spurs players and past players impact our city in a number of ways. Schools have been chartered and built by players. The Spurs are always in the spotlight for spending time with children and offering positive role models for the youth of our city. One would think that a professional basketball team that has won the championship more than once would be a bit cocky. The San Antonio Spurs are proud of their accomplishments but they also believe in giving back to the community that is proud of them.
The Spurs play at the AT&T Center (formerly SBC Center) on the east side of San Antonio. The games get loud and are usually packed to the roof. The mascot for the Spurs is the Coyote and the Spurs Coyote does a great job of entertaining the fans with acrobatic displays, stunts, and rallying antics that get the fans fired up. And like the Spurs players, the Coyote spends time with the kids and is a frequent picture subject with the younger fans. To truly appreciate a Spurs game, buy tickets and take the family.
