The Majestic Theater is in the heart of downtown San Antonio on Houston Street. This theater is the home of the San Antonio Symphony. The Majestic has off Broadway plays that come through San Antonio routinely with entertainment for the theater loving individual as well as occasional concerts for the rock and roll fan. The Majestic theater itself is a work of art. The split level theater is architecturally amazing. The detail in the Majestic theater leaves the visitor in awe as they take in the beauty before and after the act. The ceiling of the majestic is a replica of the sky with lighted stars, and visions of clouds floating across the theaters roof. Tickets for shows are available at the theater box office.
Plays at the Majestic to name a few include the Rat Pack, Chicago, Tuna, and the Nutcracker. Concert performances at the theater headline names such as Aretha Franklin and the Black Crowes. The Majestic is also home to the San Antonio Symphony which performs regularly at the theater. The theater box office provides tickets for these performances and is an authorized Ticketmaster outlet. Majestic Theater
The San Pedro Playhouse is the oldest continually operating venue for plays and stage entertainment in San Antonio. The San Pedro Playhouse consists of two theaters, the Russell Hill Rogers Theater and the Cellar Theater. Both of these theatres have distinct floor layouts and seating plans. The Cellar Theater is the smaller of the two having a central stage surrounded on three sides by audience seating while the Russell Hill Rogers Theatre is comprised of a more traditional floor seating arrangement common to Broadway type entertainment. The San Pedro Playhouse welcomes auditions for talented San Antonio entertainers. The playhouse is funded by generous donations and subsidized by local and state governments. The talent performing at the San Pedro Playhouse is made up of local residents and supported by local volunteers that really know how to put on a show.
