San Antonio has always had its share of country and western entertainment acts but with new breed of Texas music, San Antonio is at the epicenter for this new music style. From San Antonio's own Pat Green to Charlie Robison or Billy Joe Shaver, Texas music calls San Antonio part of its growing entertainment roots. Welcome to San Antonio's Texas style music.
This mecca of entertainment and Texas music is lively at least. Not only does Floore's have some
of the best county and rock groups in the San Antonio area, they also have some of the best Tamales. Floore Country Store packs people in to see big name musicians such as Willie Nelson, Pat Green, and local artists like Luke Olson. Floore's outdoor stage is surrounded by drink stands to keep your whistle wet while you enjoy the sounds of Nashville, Texas, and San Antonio. Although they need to have some bands during the day, Floore's has food that's available for lunch and dinner. But don't think it's some sort of restaurant, it's Texas entertainment at its finest.
Located in Helotes, which is just outside loop 1604 on highway 16, Floore Country Store is worth the trip. You'll be entertained by some of the best musicians San Antonio, Texas has to offer. Undoubtedly, Floore's is Texas music at its best. On the web - Floore Country Store
This place is a two story Texas music dance hall. The stage is big enough for a Texas size band and they have some great bands. Generally, the entertainment consists of Texas bands on the Texas music circuit but they do bring in some national big name music entertainers. The dance floor is huge and packs quite an audience when a big performer comes in and there's still enough room to dance. The second level consists of pool tables, food concessions, and VIP seating. Entertainment viewing is better on the second floor because you can look down at the band and the view is unobstructed. Watering holes are everywhere. Fully stocked bars and beer taps are available all over Cowboys Dance Hall. Additionally, Cowboy's boasts a full size rodeo arena with live bull riding several times a night. The bull riders here compete for money and this rodeo entertainment makes for quite a Texas size outing. Cover charges vary depending on the entertainment booked for the night.
Cowboys Dance Hall is located on Loop 410 on San Antonio's north east side. You can't miss it. This dance hall is huge and we strongly encourage you to experience this music entertainment venue. On the web - Cowboy's Dance Hall

Just outside 1604 on IH 10 west is the Leon Springs Dance Hall (map). This Texas music dance hall was once an all public place but has recently gone private although there are some events that are open to Texas music fans. The dance hall has all wood floors with the stage taking up a large corner. This Texas dance hall is where many bands were playing during their up-and-coming years.

Currently, numerous fund raisers and parties for non profit organizations are held here and the parties are always great with some great local bands. If given the opportunity, visit the Leon Springs Dance Hall. I needed to mention this dance hall here because it has such deep roots in Texas music. On the web - Leon Springs Dance Hall
The oldest dance hall in Texas is Gruene Hall, pronounced "green hall". Located just outside San Antonio in Gruene, TX (map) this dance hall sees some of the best musicians in the state and is a destination for Texas music lovers year round. Gruene Hall is really a shrine for the music circuit not only in Texas but around the nation. This is a rather small music venue and with the big country music names they bring in, Gruene Hall gets pretty packed. Parts of the old building are crooked and the wood floors in certain spots aren't level. But that's part of the charm of Gruene Hall which was built in the 1880 and is now a historical landmark. Gruene Hall has been host to country music performers such as George Strait, Willie Nelson, and Lyle Lovett.
