Missions Baseball Team
San Antonio is home to the Missions Baseball Team, the minor league club affiliated with the San Diego Padres. Baseball games are played at Nelson Wolff stadium on the west side of San Antonio. The season runs from April to September during the summer. The ball park is relatively new (built in 1994) and is cared for quite well. Baseball fans coming to see the San Antonio Missions should enjoy their trip to the Nelson Wolff baseball Stadium.
Missions Baseball Stadium
Nelson Wolff Stadium seats over 9,000 spectators with 6,000 seats and room for the remaining fans to watch from the grassy berms around the field. The Stadium has VIP box seating that overlooks the park and affords these fans the comfort of being out of the Texas heat while watching the Missions play ball. There are a number of concessions at Wolff Stadium ranging from big pretzels and fajitas to the ever popular ball park hot dog. This San Antonio baseball facility is state of the art and up to date for enjoying America's favorite pastime. The stadium hosts other baseball games as well and the tickets for all ball games can be purchased at the park.
The San Antonio Missions
The Missions are currently the minor league baseball team for the San Diego Padres. They have also been the minor league club for the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers. The San Antonio baseball team was formerly the Dodgers when they played at the V.J. Keefe Stadium at St. Mary's University at which time they were the minor league affiliate for the L.A. Dodgers. The mascot for the Missions is Henry the Puffy Taco, which is quite appropriate for the San Antonio ball team. The Puffy Taco is pretty funny and always draws a cheer when he rounds the bases. Missions ball games are fun entertainment for the whole family.
