San Antonio Day Trips

San Antonio is an ideal starting location for day trips to surrounding communities and small towns. On the southern edge of the Texas Hill Country and northern edge of the south Texas brush country, San Antonio is the regional center of south and central Texas encompassed by a diverse make-up of towns with Mexican, German and Polish roots. Many of the day trips out of San Antonio require minimal driving time due to the major highway system in and out of San Antonio. However, trips on the back roads reward travelers with scenic views and beautiful Texas scenery. Texans love road trips because half the fun is getting there.

Small Town Texas

Regardless of what part of the state you are in, small towns generally revolve around the main street running through the center of town. Day trips from San Antonio to these small area towns are no different, other than the surroundings and scenery of course but the cultural heritage of towns in the San Antonio area make for a unique day trip experience. San Antonio residents often venture out of the Bexar area on day trips but they are mostly for shopping and dining.
