San Antonio Military Air Shows

San Antonio's military presence provides for some fantastic air show opportunities. San Antonio has four Air Force bases (Brooks, Lackland, Kelly, Randolph). San Antonio hosts a military show of air power each year and Lackland AFB and Randolph AFB are the current air show locations. Precision flight performance teams from both the Navy and Air Force display their flight abilities for the San Antonio public. US Navy Blue Angels - The Blue Angels team is made up of six F/A-18 Hornet jet fighters. The Blue Angels were created by (the order of) Chester Nimitz. The Naval precision flying team is located in Pensacola, FL and fly all over the friendly skies of America and our allies for millions of spectators each year. US Air Force Thunderbirds - The Thunderbirds team is made up of six F-16C multi-role fighter jets. The USAF Thunderbirds precision flying team is headquartered at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas Nevada and like the Blue Angels, visit San Antonio at either Lackland or Randolph AFB. Moonlight Fund Airshow

The Moonlight Fund Airshow is a unique airshow produced solely by volunteers with an interest in helping burn victims. From a very humble start, the Moonlight Fund Airshow has grown into an impressive display of aerobatics, static displays and fly-by's from some of the most powerful aircraft in the U.S. Air Force arsenal. Recent Moonlight Fund shows have included a B-52 Stratofortress and a B-2 Stealth Bomber low altitude fly-by. Aerobatic and stunt shows include national champion Red Bull Edge 540 piloted by Kirby Chambliss, wing walkers and a plane landing on top of an RV. The Moonlight Fund Air Show is growing to one of San Antonio's more popular annual airshows. Keep an eye on the Moonlight Fund Airshow for next years schedule.
